Abstract
Background: To demonstrate effect of moisturizer cream which is applied on paretic limb of post-stroke patients.

Methods: Total 45 hemiplegic stroke patients were randomly assigned in the Moisturizer A (Dr.rahaim¨Þ) treatment group (n=15) or the Moisturizer B (Lactobacillus probio65¨Þ) treatment group (n=15) or the control (normal saline) group (n=15). Patients are 50 or older. Diabetes mellitus, vascular disease, peripheral polyneuropathy patients are excluded. Moisturizer A and B groups apply cream on paretic limb (anterior part of lower leg) for 14 days, twice a day. Amount of moisturizer cream is 15¡20 g in one time. Moisture content is measured by portable skin analyzer, Dermatology life quality index (DQIL) is used to satisfaction of patient and Investigator global assessment (IGA) degrees is used to assess patient¡¯s skin state at the pre-treatment (baseline), 1 week after treatment and 2 weeks after treatment.

Results: Moisturizer A and B groups were not significantly different compared with control group, except for age and onset (after days). Moisturizer A and B groups showed significant improvements in moisture content (P<0.05), but not
significant improvements in IGA and DQIL in comparison with the control group.

Conclusion: Moisturizer cream is used to help improving dry skin of post stroke patient.
